Time for some Fun!!

I got it….today I got my new Flip Mino. It is a totally cool, small, compact video camera. I shot one little video at work today and it’s really good quality. I now have to figure out how to post it up on my new web site, www.whereisphyllis.com. And then to take a bunch of little videos around town, of bjandtodd performing and lots of other stuff. Then I’ll send them to family , friends, post them online and away I go!! Who knows where I might end up with this camera in my pocket.

I got my current magnet orders out today, there are a couple other ones in the works. I got a bunch of new beads and stuff to make little beaded purses and now that OT has slowed to almost nothing at work, I’ll have more time to do this at home.

Maybe that will keep my mind occupied enough to stop eating. Yup, still not back on track for more than 8 or 10 hours at a time. It could be worse, I could be gaining, but I’ve held stead at the 15 to 20 pounds I put back on. I knew this would happen when regular food was back in the diet, but I wanted to weigh less before it happened. I just keep on trying and will never give up again.

see everyone around cyberspace!!

So It’s Friday Night

So, it’s Friday night and I sit at the computer watching (sort of) Animal Planet! I work tomorrow in the office and then have the rest of the weekend to relax. Things to do and places to go, however, will take me away from home.

I need to not eat shit that isn’t good for me and get back on track to a healthier and thinner me. I surely won’t find someone to have fun with the way I look now. I don’t know if I will find someone anyway. Who wants me with allergies, asthma, bad knees and stuff like that? :)

If I get my butt in gear, I’ll have some new jewelry to show off. But I suddenly have a bunch of magnet orders and they are big orders to boot. It doesn’t rain for me, it pours!!!

So, time to play some games to chill out and hit the sack soon.

see ya’ll in cyberspace.

Oh My Gawd

Hello there all who cares to find me in cyberspace. I’m actually alive and kicking. I’m not so sure how well, but alive.

I find it hard to believe that it’s been so long since I wrote and I promise to be more current and active, but work has all consumed me right now and I just need to escape from it. We are at the start of a product conversion and the clients are just………I can’t say it all here as this might be found by them. Let’s just say I’m tired, frustrated, angry at times, but dedicated and loyal to my company and my job.

I am trying to get back into my jewelry, but since moving a year ago, my space is limited and I’m having difficulty organizing it well enough to actually use!! And I find other things to do besides working on new designs, etc. But I am coming back for sure. I can get lost in my work, my thoughts, my designs and ideas and that is enlightening in and of itself. But the time is just not there for me. Sitting long times is bad for my health as I don’t lose any weight this way.

And yes, I am now down about 85 pounds since last year so that’s all good. But I need to finish the journey and lose the rest so I can get my suede leather jacket with fringe, some cool smaller clothes and be the hot person that I am on the inside!!!

I will have knee surgery in the coming years and that will bring back quality of life to me in a big way, but asthma and allergies will always be with me….shit.

So, that’s it for today. I hope to post some new pics of jewelry later today and who knows, maybe some new business updates?

ciao

Welcome Back World

Hi Everyone!

Very long time, no write. Time gets away from me so quickly. Can you believe we are almost all the way through the 3rd month of 2007 already?

This year is the start of my life all over again. I’m enrolled in the Positive Choice program for weight loss. So far, it’s working well. I have lost 31 pounds and have lots more to go. I admit I am having a hard time as I start the 6th week of an all liquid diet, but I have to believe in what I am doing and do my best to reach the end goal. I already feel so much better. There is less stomach pushing into my diaphram so I breathe easier. My knees don’t hurt as much so I am walking faster and straighter. This has been noticed by my co-workers and they continue to encourage me all the time.

But food is my addiction and all I want to do is eat!! I don’t know when food became my friend and my enemy, but it is something to do battle against all the while I need food to stay alive. I’ll try to be more regular with my updates as this experience continues.

I’m moving across the street in several weeks and will be building a new office/work area with lots of desk space. I need that space to get serious on my beading and jewelry! Magnets have been slow although I get great traffic to the web site. I need to make a few small changes to the web site and those will come soon, I hope.

Work sucks, but when you want to be retired and doing something else, work is just in the way. But the almighty paycheck tends to keep me moving forward to the office 5 days a week. Some day…….. to the moon Alice!!

That’s about it for me tonight. I’m trying to be more diligent and will have some new magnetic bumperstickers up in a few weeks. Also, after I move and try my hand at a yard sale in our actual yard, I will concentrate on www.yardsalesandiego.com for an online yard sale. This has great potential if I can just find the time to get it rolling!!!

rambling over and out
;)

The Day After Christmas

And all is quiet. Nothing left to wrap, nothing left to open. Phew.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas day yesterday and got everything they wanted and more. I had a wonderful time with my kids, sharing, eating, and playing. Unfortunatley, my youngest has a cold and felt miserable and I have that cold now, but nothing could dampen the spirit of the day. Going back to work stinks, but it the necessary evil in my life that keeps me moving forward.

God Bless to all, and to all a good night.

New Earrings on the Web Site

Ho…Ho…Ho….It’s that time of year again, and we are all shopping fools! Check out the web site, www.holiday-earrings-com, to see all the new earrings that I uploaded over the past weekend. I have hearts in the Valentine’s Day section, a nice brown beaded dangle under Thanksgiving (I’m working on a turkey okay, or at least a drumstick!!), and there are new Christmas trees and wreaths in the Christmas/Net Year Section. I also have another flag design that flows and dangles as well under 4th of July. Lastly, there is one new pair in the Miscellaneous site. This is a standard design from our Indian heritage in black and red. They are fun to wear and feel on the neck.

I plan on adding a line of bracelets too, and have a new batch of swarovski crystals to create things with as well as some nice fresh water pearls.

So, if you don’t know what to wear in your ears to the holiday party, put on a pair of santa’s or trees or wreaths and dazzle them all!!

ciao,

Once Again….it’s been too long

Hello world….or whomever is out there reading me. Probably no one. But the writing is the object of my intention today. Living alone has it’s many perks, not having to answer to anyone about the mess you just made and don’t feel like cleaning up, coming and going as you please, hogging the bed covers or just not using any at all because it’s hot. But loneliness sets in when no one answers your questions or has a pair of arms to give a hug after that really long hard day at work. When do you admit that you failed in Relationships 101?

I try very hard not to dwell on the negative side of anything, but here I sit, the 2nd day of the 2nd half of another year alone. Naked and alone. Gosh. Just where do I go from here? Onward and upward, alone as always.

ciao

Anyone Out There?

I haven’t had any new items posted to EverythingMagnets in a while and it’s not for the lack of ideas and desires. Time has gotten the best of me for about 8 months now and it has to be stopped. Yet, I’m off on another trip for 5 days at the end of this week.

I digress. Does anyone have any good ideas on what type of magnet products are popular right now and would make a great thing to sell on the site? Orders for Clean/Dirty magnets are fairly regular, and I have had a few custom orders this year, but nothing has really zinged the public and made them clamour for more!! I have a great idea for some bumper stickers, but haven’t followed through.

So, what do you, the general buying public, want to buy on a magnet??? Write to me and help me out!

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness??

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers of the world. What we have gone through both physically and mentally to get where we are today, fabulous mothers!!! My hat off to all of you.

I myself have 3 terrific kids, one married and the other two pretty staunchly against it. No grandkids on the horizon, just dogs, fish, snakes and cats. That’s all cool with me, less to tie me down when the urge to just take off comes along.

What about the pursuit of happiness? Where did we ever get the notion that we are supposed to be happy all the time? I am a bit sad and melancholy this Sunday morning, and don’t see an end in sight today. I’m going to share some good times with 2 of my kids for Mother’s day and that will be happy, but underlying is still my blue mood. We’ll see if it can be lifted with my travel coming up this week. I’m flying to Milwaukee to hang out with my boyfriend. Now, why does that word seem silly at my age (55)? I don’t know. But, I will see one of my sisters while I’m there too. I am the direct cause of my funkess, but someone else has to be the resolution of it and that bugs me. I want to be responsible for myself, but somehow, we always seem to be connected to other people and they impact our lives a lot. So, the pursuit of happiness is very complicated at times and not all that happy!!

I hope that my ramblings are cathargic for me, and don’t bore everyone to death, that is if anyone even reads this stuff!! What am I, self-important or something? Nah, I just like to talk and living alone keeps me from being able to do that regularly! So, I have started to write.

tata for today
me

It’s a New Day!!!

I got my birthday present yesterday and boy, oh boy, what a gift it is. I got a Nikon D70s camera with 2 lens, 70-300mm and 28-105, and a UV Filter. I ordered a 1gig CF memory chip today that runs at 133X speed (the last little ole Epson digital zoom camera I had used 12X chips!!!) which will arrive next week and I am ready to kick some booty!!

I have been so impressed and blown away by the quality that the Nikon cameras generate that this new “toy” has me really stoked. Let’s see how far the imagination can take me now in photography. Living here in paradise, I will start shooting tomorrow by going to the Downtown Marina area, and branching out from there. With my little 16mg old CF card, I can only take 8 pics or so at a time, so it will be back home, dump the pics, go out for more and so on for a few trips tomorrow. Then I will impatiently wait for the new card to arrive.

Now I have to get signed up for a Nikon forum so I can learn about my new camera from the folks who really know. I plan on upgrading some of my photos that are magnets on my other site, EverythingMagnets and I hope to get some really great stuff in Milwaukee when I visit there in 2 weeks. Another city to add to the collection of magnets. Old architecture is a favorite of mine along with people watching, water, and lighthouses. So, stay tuned folks, there will be some new product generated and announced soon.

As this blog thing is fairly new to me, I welcome any and all comments about the Nikon, or even some favorite photos you’ve taken with your Nikon. Remember to keep them small when you upload, but share away!!!

time to do some web work,
catch ya’ll on the flip side of the lens

Happy Easter!

Well folks, it’s the 2nd half of April officially and I’m still stuck in overdrive mode. I don’t feel like things are being done, yet time flies by! Good news is that I got myself a new car! Well, it’s a 2004 Xterra, which isn’t new, but it’s new to me. Here is a photo of the car. And I love it! Sitting up so high gives you a sense of accomplishment and ownership that regular cars just can’t do. Car 1 Car 2

I got some things to get more organized in my house and I’m giving myself until the end of this month to finish the project. Then it’s into high gear for some beading, some new magnets, some advertising projects and even an adventure onto Ebay. I have some Star Wars things to auction off, some personal items that are no longer needed and I will launch my newest web site, yard-sale-san-diego.ztog.com…..we’ll see what I can do with that.

So, enjoy the day, celebrate our Lord and all that is good in the world, and take care, my friends and family.

Mini Hiatus

Hello everyone…..long time, no see. I have been side tracked by a couple issues for the past 2 months, but the light at the end of the tunnel is growing larger and stronger with each day that goes by.

My web project has settled into the maintenance phase with less new things being done and changes/updates taking place. There are several things that I need to add to the site which are important and ongoing.

Next is my middle daughter’s wedding. It is just 9 days away, and there are so many things yet to do!! Family starts to arrive in 3 days, so the house cleaning really needs to kick into high gear. However, my motivation still seems to be stuck in the mental stage and not making it to the physical stage (writing in this blog instead of working comes to mind. ;] )

Once these two things settle down and pass into oblivion and the rest of my vacation takes place, I will be back to a more normal schedule with time to work on both my magnet web site, my earring web site and life in general.

So, as March comes to a fast approaching close, and my double nickels birthday fast approaches, watch out world. Phyl is back and kicking it up a notch!!!

ciao,

ProjectLost

This is just a brief update to say that I lost the re-working of the photographer’s wedding site….her current web designer refused to give up her domain name for a re-design. Now we were going to create a brand new, nothing-like-the-old-site, but that’s okay. I was going to be busier than I really wants. Now I can pursue some other projects that have been on hold for a while like new magnets and things for EverythingMagnets and some new earrings as well for holiday-earrings. It never ends, does it?

Beading update

This will be a very short update to the Holiday-earrings site…..I went to another bead store over this past weekend and once again, I walked in the door and was swept away by all the beads. They were hanging on rack after rack, color after color, style after style. It’s almost as good as sex, I gotta tell ya! *=]

Anyway, I bought a bunch of little heart earrings and some crystals for myself, and plan on having some earring up on the site to celebrate Valentine’s Day with in about 10 days. I know, cutting it close again, but I will get better, I promise!!

Can you believe it’s almost February ???

Wow….I just get one project going and moving along nicely and the year ends and a new one begins. Isn’t that just like life? To throw you a curve ball? He he he….well, we do all expect the new year to happen time after time after time, but my new year has been jam packed with goodies!!!

Let’s see. I got my holiday-earring website going, but too late to make any impact on Christmas 2005. There’s always another year, right? Magnet quotes and sales are plodding along. Nothing outrageous, but semi-steady. But the web design end of my life has kicked into high gear.

I am working on a new project for a wonderfully talented lady who does ScrimShaw. Now you ask, what is scrimshaw? It’s the fine art of scratching and carving on Whale Bone, Ivory, and other materials. Then, you fill in the scratches with black ink, or colors if you are really talented, and viola!!! You have knife handles, gun grips, bolo ties, earrings, necklaces, elephant tusks mounted, whale teeth, and on and on and on. It is great fun working on this new site and I will be meeting with my client in February when I am in Las Vegas on other business. Watch for the grand opening announcement of this web site.

And that’s just another thing that is keeping me busy. I’m starting off my travel year early by taking a long weekend with a friend in Las Vegas. I can’t wait, we are going to see The Blue Man Group, so that’s very cool indeed. I will gamble a bit, walk a bit more, maybe even take in a massage. ;) We will do the Antique Arms gun show and he will do others while I do my own thing.

Right after I get back from Vegas I start on another web design project, well, actually a re-design of an existing site. It’s for a pair of photographers and they are doing my daughter’s wedding! [yes, that is in March, 2006, just to keep me on my toes and to stay very busy!!!] This is will be an exciting project as there will be a private side for customers only to view their photos and ordering from there, etc.

And along with all of this, I will be updating and running the magnet business, the earring business, doing a little recreational knitting, and who knows what else!!!

So, it’s time to get back on the wheel and go spinning around another night. Everyone stay warm, or cool, and just hang!

Finally, a journey home

Hi everyone, for those of you new to my world, let me explain my love affair with beads. Ever since I was a little girl, I played with and strung up beads. I also collected and played with stones, but that’s another story, however, I think the tactile feeling of cool stones in my hands led me to the beads and gem stones I love so much. But I digress.

In the years past, in a different state and time, I was a big time crafter. I made jewelry of all kinds and traveled around the state of Michigan doing Craft Shows. I was before my time with many of my designs and have since seen them duplicated a lot. If I only knew that I was so talented….. oh well. I enjoyed my times crafting, even when the show routine got old and heavy. I shared a lot of time and things with my sisters, especially Jan, who is quite crafty in her own right, I must say. But times changed, I moved out of state and things got packed up and forgotten.

Here in CA, life is very different. Craft shows are few and far between. Where in MI, every grade school and church would have a craft show or bazarr for all the holiday events, no one out here does that at all!! I don’t know why, as these shows brought in good money and are real social events. But….who knows? There are large art shows sponsered by guilds and held at the Fair grounds or the Downtown Convention Center, but that’s okay. I don’t need or want the big arenas to sell my goods anymore. ;) I just need to get back to what makes me happy and keeps me feeling alive. And that is my beads. I have built 2 bead closets to hold all of my materials that have been so patiently waiting for me in their boxes and crates. I shall post a pic or two once they are all done and stocked.

I made my first trip yesterday to 2 bead stores locally in San Diego. I felt so warm and tingly when I set foot in the stores, so exciting. I got the same old feeling I used to get that I’m glad I didn’t have much money as I would have bought way too much of everything, especially since it was all on 30% off sale!!! At the first place, I met 2 very nice ladies who are thinking of forming a bead co-op and asked me to join with them. I said yes and gave the one lady my name, phone number and email address. I told them that I mostly bead and not work with the gem stones anymore, but that I am very much into computers and running web sites. The one lady, Stephanie, told me good, I could run their web site. 8=] I left that store and found another one very close to home in Old Town that sells so many seed beads that I knew I was in heaven. They also sold some yarn varieties which I will look at another day.

My first big bead project is going to be my beaded Santa Claus faces, Christmas Trees, Wreaths, and Snowflakes. I loved doing these and they sold quite well for me in the past. My sister, Jan, has someone at Chrysler interested in seeing them as well. And as Jan wears her pairs, I asked her to be a walking advertisement for me. Also, there is a new web site just for the earrings. www.holiday-earrings.com There will be holiday earrings for all seasons as the year goes along, but right now, it’s just Christmas stuff.

I will write more another day, but right now, I have to get busy with my beading and other stuff. Write me back, give me some ideas, share pics of your own bead work (in a small photo please?)

ciao,
